WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has been appointed to provide multidisciplinary engineering services on a £50m revamp to the Meadowhall shopping and leisure complex in Sheffield.
Laing O’Rourke is main contractor on the interior design refurbishment which is due to start on site next month for client British Land.
The refurbishment marks the 25th anniversary of Meadowhall Shopping Centre.
WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff senior technical director Adam Selvey said: “We are delighted to be working on this project with British Land having had some great successes on numerous retail and commercial projects with them, such as the Leadenhall Building in London.
“Our engineering team’s input on the project is instrumental to British Land’s vision to create a modern shopping centre environment.”
The refurbishment is due to be completed by the end of 2017 on the UK’s fourth largest shopping centre, which comprises 310 shops, 50 restaurants and cafes and a multi-screen cinema.
