Warehouse developer Tritax has reported a record period of uptake of space and unveiled a 4m sq ft pipeline.
In a trading statement this morning, the logistics warehouse developer said despite the uncertain economic backdrop, space take-up over the past nine months of 32.6m sq ft surpassed previous annual historic levels and is 3% above 2018’s previous annual record levels.
To replenish its development programme it has progressed pipeline plans.
Last month Tritax received outline planning for a 2m sq ft logistics park in the West Midlands subject to judicial review.
Known as Symmetry Park Rugby, the new employment zone will be built on a 114-acre site on land north of the A45 and M45 junction, as part of a new mixed-use neighbourhood of up to 5,000 dwellings and employment floorspace.
The firm has also submitted planning applications for a further 2m sq ft at other sites.
It said that contractor ISG had made good progress on what will become one of Europe’s largest and most sustainable logistics buildings at the former Littlebrook power station site in Dartford.
The vast warehouse will be let to Amazon. ISG is expected to make the external structure wind and watertight by mid-November, and is on track for practical completion in Summer 2021.
